Introducing 'Behind Dutch Headlines'

Introducing 'Behind Dutch Headlines'
1 March, 2013

Ever since ‘Comedy Central News,’ people keep asking me, ‘When are you going to talk about Dutch news on TV again?’ Even though we weren’t doing anything like serious reporting, internationals in the Netherlands were using us as their primary Dutch news source.

Finally, we can announce ‘Behind Dutch Headlines.’ Every week, I’ll be giving you a Dutch news digest in English. Hopefully it’s enough for you to join the Dutch conversation. You’ll hear Dutch people talking about the headlines, but it’s hard to join in if you don’t know the context.
- Why is Bram Moskowicz so important (and will he stay important)?
- How did Jeroen Dijsselbloem really get to be Chairman of the EuroGroup?
- How can you say ‘You’re only here because you’re black’ to a black man & still keep your job?

‘Behind Dutch Headlines’ aims to give you just enough background to ask the smart follow-up questions.

Of course, we’re looking for sponsors. But – based on the good will of One2One Productions & expatica.com – we’ll keep going for now. It’s very good news. I tried a series of failed attempts since 2009: XM News, ANP News, nu.nl, AT5… And all the time I keep hearing – not just from expats – but from the expat centers, ‘How do we keep these internationals in the country?’ One way is to make sure they can join the Dutch conversation.

Watch ‘Behind Dutch Headlines.’ Thanks.
